From the very beginning, his primary goal was to create quality and added value while conducting business with fairness and integrity.

Today, the family business is managed by the second generation and has grown into one of Switzerland’s leading real estate companies. Alfred Müller AG plans, develops, markets and manages high-quality residential and commercial properties – from the initial project idea through construction and use, right up to future concepts at the end of a property’s life cycle. To ensure the company’s long-term future, Alfred Müller and his family established a foundation that holds a qualified majority of Alfred Müller Holding AG. This ensures that the healthy family business remains entrepreneurially and financially independent and can continue to shape its own successful future. The foundation is chaired by Michael Müller, son of the company’s founder, Alfred Müller.

The Alfred Müller Story

Alfred Müller AG has been an independent family business since 1965, with many milestones and significant events along the way.

1938

Alfred Müller is born on 8 March in Baar as the eldest of four children.

1962

Alfred Müller completes his first own construction project, a three-family house on Schutzengelstrasse in Baar.

1964

Alfred Müller marries Annaliese Stocker.

1965

On 1 August, at the age of 27, he establishes the sole proprietorship Alfred Müller-Stocker. In the same year, Annaliese and Alfred Müller celebrate the birth of their daughter, Marianne.

1968

From 1968 onwards, the distinctive Goldermatten residential development in Steinhausen is built in several phases.

1969

On 29 May, the sole proprietorship becomes Alfred Müller AG, with a share capital of CHF 500,000 and its registered office in Baar. In 1971, the company moves into its new headquarters in the office building it constructed at Baarerstrasse 112 in Zug.

1972

The Tatzelwurm residential development in Steinhausen, measuring 140 metres in length, becomes the longest building ever completed by Alfred Müller AG at that time.

1974

The first edition of the company’s own magazine, Forum, is published. The magazine has continued to develop successfully and is still published today, reaching around 10,000 subscribers twice a year.

1974

In Hünenberg, the prototype of the «Standardised Office and Commercial Building» is developed. This innovation makes a major contribution to the company’s success. In 1976, the first complete development based on this concept is completed on Städtlerallmend in Cham.

1975

The company celebrates its 10th anniversary. The 1,000th apartment is completed. Alfred Müller establishes an in-house landscaping division with its own tree nursery to ensure every development has attractive surroundings from the very beginning.

1980

For the first time, Alfred Müller AG builds for a global company, completing the LEGO office building in Neuhof, Baar, its largest construction project to date.

1985

The company celebrates its 20th anniversary. The Western Switzerland branch is established in Marin, Neuchâtel. Twenty years after its foundation, the company has completed more than 1,600 rental and owner-occupied apartments, as well as around 300,000 square metres of office and commercial space.

1987

The Allmig composting and anaerobic digestion plant above Blickensdorf begins operations.

1987

With the opening of a branch in Magadino, Ticino, Alfred Müller AG becomes a real estate company operating throughout Switzerland.

1989

Alfred Müller AG constructs its new headquarters at Neuhofstrasse 10, which remains the company’s head office to this day.

1989

The «L’eau c’est la vie» water well project is launched in Cameroon.

1992

Annaliese and Alfred Müller travel to Cameroon for the inauguration of the 100th drinking water well. The establishment of the St. Martin Foundation ensures the long-term financing of the charity.

1992

In Puits-Godet, Neuchâtel, Alfred Müller AG completes the largest contiguous commercial development in the company’s history, covering 20,000 square metres.

1994

Alfred Müller AG opens its first international branch in Horbourg-Wihr, Alsace. A few years later, the company’s activities abroad come to an end.

1997

On 1 January, Christoph Müller joins the family business, marking the entry of the second generation. In 1999, he becomes Chairman of the Executive Board, taking over operational management.

2000

Alfred Müller AG celebrates its 35th anniversary. At the turn of the millennium, the company employs around 120 people.

2000

The St. Martin Foundation completes its 600th drinking water well in Cameroon.

2002

Construction begins on the Feldhof residential development in Zug, comprising around 360 apartments and several commercial units.

2002

The Stadthof development in Sursee is completed according to the plans of the renowned Ticino architect Luigi Snozzi.

2003

Michael Müller, Alfred Müller’s second son, also joins the company.

2009

Alfred Müller AG invests CHF 7 million in state-of-the-art anaerobic digestion and biogas technology. The new Allmig digestion plant begins operations, processing up to 25,000 tonnes of green waste each year for both material recovery and energy production.

2011

The Müller family establishes the Alfred Müller Foundation, which holds the majority of the company’s shares. Christoph Müller becomes Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alfred Müller AG, while Michael Müller becomes President of the Alfred Müller Foundation.

2013

David Hossli is appointed Chairman of the Executive Board (CEO), marking the first time in the company’s history that operational management is no longer led by a member of the Müller family.

2013

With the financial support of Alfred Müller AG, the Brickworks Museum is established in Hagendorn in a protected natural and cultural heritage setting

2015

The Feldpark residential development in Zug is completed.

2019

The Helix commercial building in Cham is completed, becoming the new headquarters of AMAG Switzerland.

2023

Alfred Müller AG extensively renovates its headquarters in Baar, creating a modern office environment designed for today’s workplace.

2025

David Hossli becomes CEO of Alfred Müller AG. The company celebrates its 60th anniversary with a two-day anniversary trip.

2025

The second phase of the Quadrolith office development in Baar is completed. By October 2023, all available space has already been fully let.
